Teams & permissions

This page shows you how to control who can access what in Zinye Insights — useful once more than a few people are building and viewing reports.

Zinye Insights controls access in three layers, from broad to fine:

  1. Roles — what someone can do in the app (view only, build, or administer).
  2. Teams — which resources (data sources, tables, dashboards) a group can reach.
  3. Row-level filters — within a resource, which rows a person sees.

The model reads as: User → Team(s) → Resources → Row filters.

A team is how you grant access to data without setting it up person by person:

  • Users are assigned to one or more teams.
  • Teams are granted access to specific resources — data sources, tables, charts, and dashboards.

So when someone joins, you add them to the right team and they instantly get the access that team has — no per-person fiddling.

Sometimes a whole team should see the same report but different rows of it. A row-level filter does that — for example, each salesperson sees only their own customers in the same shared dashboard.

Access control is managed by an administrator (you’ll need the Insights Admin role). Enable permissions, create your teams, grant them the resources they need, and add row filters where people should only see their slice.
