Income tax
This page shows you how Zinye HR works out employee income tax in payroll, so you don’t calculate it by hand.
Tax slabs
Section titled “Tax slabs”An income tax slab is the set of tax bands and rates that apply for a period (for example 0–300k at 7%, the next band at a higher rate, and so on). You set up the slab that matches your country’s rules, and payroll applies it to each employee automatically.
Exemptions and declarations
Section titled “Exemptions and declarations”Many tax systems let employees reduce their taxable income with exemptions (rent, insurance, retirement contributions). Zinye HR supports this:
- An employee submits a tax exemption declaration at the start of the year (what they expect to claim).
- Later they submit proof of those claims.
- Payroll factors the approved amounts into the tax calculation.
Other income an employee has elsewhere can also be declared so tax is calculated correctly across the year.
How it shows up
Section titled “How it shows up”Tax is calculated as a deduction on each salary slip, spread across the year so take-home pay is steady rather than lumpy. Year-to-date figures are tracked, so the right total is collected by year end.
