Accounting
This page shows you the heart of your books in Zinye ERP — the chart of accounts and the general ledger. The good news: for normal trading you rarely touch them directly, because invoices and payments post to them for you.
The chart of accounts
Section titled “The chart of accounts”The Chart of Accounts is the structured list of every account your business uses — bank, cash, sales, expenses, assets, liabilities. It’s organised as a tree, based on standard double-entry accounting. Zinye ERP sets up a sensible chart for your company automatically; you adjust it to your needs and local rules under Accounting → Accounting Masters → Chart of Accounts.
It’s what lets you answer “what are we worth?”, “how much profit are we making?”, and “what’s our expense breakdown?”.
The general ledger
Section titled “The general ledger”The general ledger is the running record of every posting. You almost never write to it by hand: when you submit a sales invoice, a purchase invoice, or a payment, Zinye ERP makes the balanced double-entry for you. That’s what keeps your reports trustworthy.
Journal entries
Section titled “Journal entries”For everything that isn’t a sale, purchase, or standard payment — accruals, adjustments, opening balances, depreciation — you use a Journal Entry (Accounting → General Ledger → Journal Entry). You pick the accounts to debit and credit, and the debits must equal the credits. It’s the accountant’s tool for the cases the standard documents don’t cover.
Reports
Section titled “Reports”The Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, General Ledger, and Accounts Receivable/Payable reports are all built live from these postings — see Reports & getting help.
