Shifts & rosters
This page shows you how to run shifts in Zinye HR — and how, once they’re set up, attendance can be worked out automatically.
How shifts work
Section titled “How shifts work”Shifts follow a simple chain:
- Shift Type — define a shift’s hours and rules (for example Morning, 9–5), including the working window and grace times.
- Shift Assignment — assign that shift to employees for a date range.
- Shift Request — let an employee request a different shift, which their manager approves.
- Check-ins — employees check in/out (each stamped with the time).
- Auto-attendance — with it enabled, Zinye HR turns those check-ins into attendance automatically, against the assigned shift.
Rosters
Section titled “Rosters”For teams whose shifts change week to week, a roster lets you plan and assign shifts across people and days in one view — so everyone knows when they’re working and attendance still flows automatically.
Overtime
Section titled “Overtime”Hours worked beyond a shift can be captured as overtime, ready to feed into payroll where you pay for it.
