Key concepts
A few words run through all of Zinye Insights. Learn these four and the rest is easy.
Data source
Section titled “Data source”A data source is where your numbers come from. Most often it’s your Zinye ERP data, but you can also connect other databases, files, and spreadsheets. You connect a data source once, and everything you build draws from it.
A query is a question you ask of your data — “sales by month this year”, “stock value by warehouse”. You build queries with a visual query builder: you pick the data and the steps point-and-click, with no SQL needed. The query gives you back a table of results.
A chart turns a query’s results into a picture — a bar chart, a line, a number, a table. Zinye Insights even suggests the best chart for the data you’ve got, so you’re never staring at a blank canvas.
Dashboard
Section titled “Dashboard”A dashboard is a page that brings several charts together — your at-a-glance view of the business. You arrange charts by drag and drop, add filters that apply across all of them (say, a date range), and share the dashboard with your team.
Workbook
Section titled “Workbook”A workbook is where you do the work — it holds your queries and the charts built from them, kept together so your analysis stays organised.
