Customers & suppliers
This page shows you how to set up your customers (who you sell to) and suppliers (who you buy from). These are master records — create one once, and it carries the party’s details and history through every transaction.
Customers
Section titled “Customers”Go to Selling → Customer → New and set:
- Customer Name, and Customer Type (Company or Individual).
- Customer Group and Territory — used for pricing and reporting.
- Optionally a default price list, credit limit, and payment terms.
Contacts and addresses are stored separately and linked, so one customer can have several contacts.
See Create your first customer for a step-by-step walkthrough.
Suppliers
Section titled “Suppliers”Go to Buying → Supplier → New and set:
- Supplier Name, and Supplier Group.
- A default currency and payment terms if they differ from your defaults.
Suppliers feed the buying cycle — purchase orders, receipts, and bills all reference them.
Why the masters matter
Section titled “Why the masters matter”Good party records pay off everywhere:
- Pricing — a customer’s price list and a supplier’s terms fill in automatically.
- Credit control — a customer’s credit limit can warn or block before you over-extend them.
- History & reporting — every order, invoice, and payment rolls up against the party, so you can see exactly where you stand with anyone.
