Leave management

This page shows you how leave works in Zinye HR — from setting it up to staff applying and managers approving.

Do this once:

  1. Holiday List — define your non-working days (weekends and public holidays).
  2. Leave Types — the kinds of leave you offer (for example Sick Leave, Casual Leave, Annual Leave).
  3. Leave Period — the span (usually a year) that allowances run over.

A Leave Policy says how many days of each type a person gets. From the policy you create a Leave Allocation for the leave period — this is what gives each employee their balance to draw from. You can grant extra days to individuals when needed.

An employee submits a Leave Application:

  1. They open Leave Application and click New.
  2. They pick the leave type, the dates, and their leave approver (usually their manager).
  3. They submit it.

Staff can do this from their self-service view.

The leave approver reviews the request and approves or rejects it. On approval, the employee’s balance for that leave type goes down automatically — there’s no separate spreadsheet to update.

You can see who’s taken what with the leave reports, and every change is recorded, so balances always reconcile.
